Fireworks, whistles and loud bangs!!

Relatively speaking..

Tonight, myself and Lisa went to the Everyman Theatre in Chelts to see Relatively Speaking, an Alan Ayckbourne play all about passion and misunderstandings. If you get a chance to see this, do, because it's hilariously funny. The cast made up of Jonathan Coy, Felicity Kendal, Max Bennett and Kara Tointon are believable, fabulous and hilarious.

Carfest North

Imagine my excitement on seeing two Carfest tickets for sale last week...?! Immediately, I txt the only girl on the planet who I knew would be as excited as I was (MGC) and her response was... 'Yes, let's do it!'. Within minutes, I'd paid for the tickets and couldn't believe we were going to Carfest North to see the legend that is Chris Evans!!

Oh my, what an amazingly fab evening! I happened to be staying in London so caught the early afternoon train out of Euston to Crewe. Easy journey then taxi to the hotel to await Mad Ginger Claire.

By 6pm we were driving not Cholmondeley Castle grounds for one of the finest, most exciting events ever! Both myself and Ginger admit to having 'Meet Chris Evans' and 'Carfest' on our bucket lists so this was a dream come true evening for us both.

We parked up and trotted in to view the most amazing cars then, famished from our travels, we queued for some tasty food. YUM, a delicious salad box with cooked chicken, how easy was that?!So to the music. The Proclaimers, Palma Faith and Texas, how about that for a great line-up!

I'm going to the Olympic Stadium... !!

Today was something I wanted to do for me and my dad (no, this isn't my dad!). Dad came to the Olympics back in 1948, so this was something I needed to do for me, in memory of him. The day was brilliant, the experience really moving and the company was perfect. Me and Kevin are great friends and you know those occasions when a girlfriend just won't do.. that's where the Chip Monster comes in :) Liz and her lovely friend, Sardine (ahh, it was something like that!) came too.

My first sight of the Olympic Park was awesome - there was no other word for it! The stadium looked brilliant and the sun was shining down on us - thanks for the special moment Dad!

Here are just a few of the many highlights of my memorable Olympic stadium day.

How about this for a triple jump>? Pretty amazing when you consider that the athlete is blind - oh yes! We kept very quiet in the stadium so he could run towards the noise his companion was making, which was either clapping or shouting. One or two unfortunate athletes miss-judged the direction and ran headlong into the guys sitting on the stools beside the pit but on the whole, the athletes did a brilliant job of jumping straight into the pit! I remember at school that I couldn't even make it into the sand so I have nothing but enormous admiration for these sportsmen.

Eton Dorney Adventures

Eton Dorney, Eton Dorney, Eton Dorney... don't you think there's something about the name? I watched some of the Olympics and it was somewhere I wanted to visit but until Fi & Rob came to visit, I hadn't imagined I'd ever get there!

I'm the lucky ticket finder as far as my friends are concerned. I managed to get Olympic Wimbledon tickets in the draw last year and got 4 tickets to the Paralympic athletics on my phone whilst I was away with Mom in Wales! So although everyone else was staggered when I logged on, searched for Eton Downey tickets and declared that I'd managed to get 3 for Saturday 1st Sept, it was just a normal, lucky day for me.

Ellie was safely dispatched in the care of Lisa's Mom & Dad so the three of us could go on this crazy Olympic adventure. It was a very early start at 5am but every minute of the day was just brilliant. Even the cloudy weather didn't dampen our spirits - how could it? If I imagined that the Olympic athletes were brilliant then the Paralympic athletes are even more exceptional.

Oh the games makers... cheery, happy, smiley, welcoming, friendly, respectful, understanding.. I could go on. These high chairs were the perfect platform for people who have a lot to say for themselves and we loved every single one of them!

Here I am with just two of the many wonderful volunteers who made the games so special. If we could bottle their spirit, we could make the world a much better place.

Here we are at the end of this wonderful day at Eton Dorney. We all had a brilliant time, saw lots of great rowers and created wonderful memories that we'll never forget!
