We're a creative bunch! Looking back over the past 1000 years, many artists, painters, poets and sculptors were born on March 1st. Interestingly, more scientists, physicians and politicians were born on June 1st! Notable dates... Frederic Chopin was born on this day in 1810, the Hoover Dam was completed in 1936, the Battle of Bismarck Sea began in 1943, the castle bravo, a megaton hydrogen bomb was detonated in Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean resulting in the biggest explosion ever made by man in 1954! Colour television transmissions begin for the first time in Australia in 1975, Britain decided to go decimal.. blimey.. and Botticelli was born way back in 1445. Famous for his frescos on the walls of the Sistine Chapel and paintings such as Primavera and the Birth of Venus. Impressive or what... !
